ABOUT ME

Anchor 1
Bio

My name is Emma Benningwood, I am 21 years old and currently studying Media and Communications at Birmingham City University.

The media industry is a passion of mine, be it researching and exploring current media issues or debates, or producing media material. In terms of academic research, my main area of focus in a lot of my work is, but not exclusive, is audiences and fan communities, and their interaction with media texts. I am interested in a wide variety of the media industry, with Event Planning being my main prominent passion (developed through various volunteering experiences and work experiences I've had in the events industry, and more recently through taking an Event and Exhibition Planning production module at University), but with many other aspects appealing to me, including the other production modules I am currently taking: PR, Visual Design and Music Industries. Each of these subject areas, as well as others I take interest in outside of academic work, I have an existing knowledge of, a passion for furthering that knowledge, and excitement over the possibility of pursuing work in in the future.

I have had a lot of experience in working with people, technology and enterprises. Some of the things I have learnt from these experiences are that I am reliable, committed, friendly/approachable, diligent and calm under pressure. I am also a quick and willing learner, that has shown to be punctual in time-keeping and attendance and that I am a well-organised and methodical person. I enjoy opportunities to express my creativity, and inspire and engage others through this.

Throughout my various working experiences I have had gained a lot of experience in working with people, technology and enterprise. I have had paid roles through hospitality agency Blue Arrow, retailer Marks and Spencers, in multiple roles, and a local newsagent, as well as volunteering roles in event planning, and public relations at Radio Plus.
